A superb Bitossi LIMITED EDITION (69/70) vase in a the deep Rimini Blue finish and signed to the base.

The Bitossi family has a long history of working in ceramics, with ancestors who were painters, sculptors, kiln workers, and potters in Montelupo Fiorentino, Italy.  Guido Bitossi founded the company in 1921, combining the family's centuries-old traditions with new ceramic production methods. The company was originally called Manifattura Ceramica Cav., but was later shortened to Bitossi Ceramiche. 

Bitossi is known for its mid-century ceramics, including the "Rimini Blu" series of vases and figurines. Bitossi has collaborated with many designers, including Aldo Londi and Ettore Sottsass. The Bitossi factory has been located in the same place since 1921 and is now a historic site. 

Bitossi pottery is known for its striking animal designs, bulbous vases, and luster-glazed trinket dishes. Some authentic Bitossi pieces aren't marked at all.
