This delightful Teardrop Vase has been hand decorated with Echinacea and is part of the Summer 2024 Collection. Used for many years as a medicinal herb it is a particular favourite of Anita’s. The colour she has chosen is a blend of several glazes, bringing it life with a depth of colours within colours..

Firstly the piece was made in clay and fired to bisque. Anita’s kintimate knowledge of reactive glazes and firing temperatures was vital in order to achieve this stunning design. Starting with a red based glaze she trialed many other combinations glazes to come up with an extraordinary final textured purple to contrast with the fiery smoothness of the background glaze, outlined with gold, black and red tubing, allowing the blooms to stand out from the vase with their wonderful tactile finish..

Anita’s glazes fuse and interact with each other. Many glaze combinations were trialed before the right hand painted blend was achieved, ensuring that the end result was a breathtaking piece of ceramic art.

Anita Harris has designed pieces for some of the UK’s leading potteries including Poole Pottery where she was a senior designer and decorator. She also designed and decorated for Cobridge Stoneware Pottery. Anita Harris has been responsible for a number of new pottery glazes and designs, and her work includes exclusive designs for Liberty, Harrods, Tiffany and Bloomingdales and now Vintage Trends.
