LIMITED EDITION by Anita Harris - Skittle Vase decorated with Gladioli for Autumn 2024

This delightful Skittle Vase has been hand decorated with Gladioli and is part of the Autumn 2024 Collection. The Gladioli is a majestic flower which features in millions of gardens. With a deep green ground, this glorious white majestic flower is hand painted in contrasting matt glaze and lustre finish. The background is a stylised blend of blues, greens and white giving the impression of white flowers amongst lush spearlike leaves.
Firstly the piece was made in clay and fired to bisque. Each flower was tube lined with a pearlescent raised line and infilled with a white glaze with a hint of yellow and red glazes then being added. Finally, each flower was overpainted with a soft white lustre.
Anita’s glazes fuse and interact with each other. Many glaze combinations were trialed before the right hand painted blend was achieved, ensuring that the end result was a breathtaking piece of ceramic art.
Anita Harris has designed pieces for some of the UK’s leading potteries including Poole Pottery where she was a senior designer and decorator. She also designed and decorated for Cobridge Stoneware Pottery. Anita Harris has been responsible for a number of new pottery glazes and designs, and her work includes exclusive designs for Liberty, Harrods, Tiffany and Bloomingdales and now Vintage Trends.
Anita’s designs have become highly collectable, some fetching premium prices on the secondary market.
Anita’s son Peter Harris has recently joined the design team. All designs are entirely hand decorated in Stoke on Trent.
