This delightful Marrakech Vase has been hand decorated with Iris’ and is part of the Spring 2024 Collection. Anita was inspired by a combination of Monet’s impressionistic flowers, her own garden flowers and photographs, where the focus is on the main flower and the others merge into a beautiful blurred fusion of soft colours with flashes of gold, silver and copper dancing in the breeze.

Firstly the piece was made in clay and fired to bisque. Anita then hand painted the Iris in a delicate watercolour and the piece was then re-fired. In the next part of the process, Mother of Pearl was added, and agin the piece was fired.

Gold and copper leaf was then applied before she added a delicate tube lining in gold and pearl. The final firing, at a lower temperature resulted in a wonderful soft, yet tactile finish that changes under different lighting. , producing a unique and truly original piece of outstanding ceramic art.

Anita’s glazes fuse and interact with each other. Many glaze combinations were trialed before the right hand painted blend was achieved, ensuring that the end result was a breathtaking piece of ceramic art.

Anita Harris has designed pieces for some of the UK’s leading potteries including Poole Pottery where she was a senior designer and decorator. She also designed and decorated for Cobridge Stoneware Pottery. Anita Harris has been responsible for a number of new pottery glazes and designs, and her work includes exclusive designs for Liberty, Harrods, Tiffany and Bloomingdales and now Vintage Trends.

Anita’s designs have become highly collectable, some fetching premium prices on the secondary market.

Anita’s son Peter Harris has recently joined the design team. All designs are entirely hand decorated in Stoke on Trent.
