This spectacular statement piece Large Skittle Vase has been hand decorated with Hellebore, more popularly known as The Christmas Rose and is part of the Winter 2024 Collection. The Hellebore is a magnificent flower and is a member of the Buttercup family. Deep red flowers with an exotic centre of yellow central filaments, they are a firm favourite with the gardener. The saucer like petals are actually sepals which nod gently in the breeze.
Firstly the piece was made in clay and fired to bisque. Anita chose one of the deep red varieties of Hellebore which lends itself perfectly to her blend of signature red glazes.
Each flower was outlined with gold tubing and the centre filaments were enhanced with the same gold. The piece was handpainetd with a delicate beauty, typical of Anita’s signature glazes.
Anita Harris has designed pieces for some of the UK’s leading potteries including Poole Pottery where she was a senior designer and decorator. She also designed and decorated for Cobridge Stoneware Pottery. Anita Harris has been responsible for a number of new pottery glazes and designs, and her work includes exclusive designs for Liberty, Harrods, Tiffany and Bloomingdales and now Vintage Trends.
Anita’s designs have become highly collectable, some fetching premium prices on the secondary market.
Anita’s son Peter Harris has recently joined the design team. All designs are entirely hand decorated in Stoke on Trent.
